When sculpting, your workspace should be, first and foremost clean and well lit. Clean obviously due to not having all the dust and dirt end up on your sculpt then realize after you've reached a point where you can't change the fact that it's full of an unwanted mess. Well lit because the more you can see, the more that you're aware of and the more you'll get a sculpture that actually turns out the way you want it to.
I've come to realize that I like two flexible desk lamps that clamp on to the sides of desks. I like to have one on each side and also have the generic room light on which is usually a good distribution of light. |
I personally like having a big workspace, very wide with a lot of clear space so I can move things around freely, it's just a preference I have. Something I read was that all clothes shed lint so it’s best to wear white or light colored clothes while sculpting to minimize tat as much as possible. I find that for myself I get inspired by surrounding myself with things that make me feel good, like nature. I Love having the sun come through the blinds and have a DVD playing in the background of waves, it really gets me in the state of mind I want / need to be in to “let the creative juices flow.”
